Saving PDFs in InDesign with PrintWorks Preset
Please be certain that your document contains a minimum of 0.125” (1/8”) of bleed on all sides before following these instructions.
- Download and unzip preset to the desktop or the location of your choice. You can download the preset here: PrintWorks PDF Preset
- In InDesign go to File > Adobe PDF Presets > Define. In the window that pops up click "Load."
- Navigate to the location of the preset and click "Open." The preset is now loaded in your Adobe PDF Presets. When you create a PDF choose the "PrintWorksPDFwithBleed" preset and we will have a PDF file we can use to print your job.
Saving PDFs from QuarkXPress for PrintWorks
Please be certain that your document contains a minimum of 0.125” (1/8”) of bleed on all sides before following these instructions.
- In QuarkXPress, go to File > Export > Layout as PDF.
- In the “Export as PDF” window choose a name for your file and a location where you will be able to find it easily. At the bottom of this window click the “Options” button.
- In the “PDF Export Options” window click on the “Job Options” heading. In the “Font Options” section check the “Embed all fonts” option. Be certain the “Subset fonts below:” option is unchecked. In the “Compression Options” section the choice for Color Images, Grayscale Images, and Monochrome Images Compression should be “None” and for Resolution it should be “Keep resolution.”
- Next in the “PDF Export Options” window click on the “Output” heading. In the “Color Output” section the choice for Type should be “Composite” and the choice for Print Colors should be “CMYK.” Also check “Produce Blank Pages.” “Use OPI” should not be checked. Registration should be set to “Centered” and Offset should be 9 pt. Bleed Type should be set to “Symmetric” and the amount should be 0.125”.
- You can then click the “OK” button and save the file.
